Elderly man and special needs daughter found dead at Pasir Ris block
An elderly man and a woman believed to be his daughter were both found dead at an HDB block in Pasir Ris on Sunday afternoon (Aug 20), in what is being classified as a case of unnatural death.
According to The Straits Times, the 70-year-old man was found lying motionless at the foot of the block, while the 27-year-old woman, believed to have had special needs, was found motionless in their flat on the second floor with multiple stab wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police were alerted to Block 560 along Pasir Ris Street 51 at 1:30pm by residents, who heard a loud thud and presumed it was furniture being thrown around. The New Paper reported that the police cordoned off a section of the block’s eighth storey, where a bicycle was found. It is believed that said bicycle belonged to the elderly man, who had leapt from it.

It is understood that eight people live in the second-storey flat: the elderly man, his wife, three kids, one son-in-law and two grandchildren. Channel NewsAsia reported that two other family members were shopping for groceries at the time. The man and his daughter — a student at the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore — were allegedly close and had been spotted going out together by residents in the vicinity.
The man was described as “friendly” and “loving” and had been well-known around the block. A neighbour who spoke to ST said that she had never heard the man raise his voice at his daughter before. She added that the daughter used to throw tantrums when she first moved into the flat four years ago, but stopped doing so seven months later.
Police investigations are ongoing.
