Vivian Balakrishnan to visit North Korea ahead of Trump-Kim summit
Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan will visit Pyongyang from 7 to 8 June, ahead of the highly anticipated summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on 12 June.
According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) statement on Wednesday (6 June), Vivian was invited over by his North Korean counterpart Ri Yong Ho.
During the trip, the 57-year-old Member of Parliament for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC will also call upon Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Vivian will be accompanied on his trip by other MFA officials, the statement said.
