We all love it when corporate Twitter accounts shed their polite public relations voice and become anthropomorphic versions of us — i.e. our witty, meme-slinging, millennial selves.

A verified Twitter account for McDonald’s Singapore was only launched in April, but already, the account seems to be handled by someone internet-savvy enough to shoot savage tweets left and right. But as much as we’d love a world where McDonald’s Singapore is even roasting the Minister of Education for a trite comment, it may be too good to be true.

“We would like to clarify that the Twitter account @McDonalds_SG is not an official account handled by McDonald’s Singapore,” noted the brand’s marketing team to Coconuts Singapore.

“Any statements and comments made by the account are not in any way affiliated with McDonald’s Singapore,” the public relations spokesperson said, adding that they are working with the relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Now, the Twitter account has been taken down, and with it, any evidence of its witty tweets.

Despite @McDonalds_SG appearing to be very much an official account promoting vanilla tweets about the fast food joint’s promotions and meals, it was on Saturday that it tried to spark a war with Wendy’s — the fast food chain that shuttered its operations in Singapore back in 2015. Bold move on the part of “McDonald’s Singapore”, because Wendy’s reigns in pop culture as holding the most savage corporate Twitter account doling out roasts to everyone. Which they handed to the fake McDonald’s Singapore Twitter account.

Though Wendy’s did suffer a nasty death IRL over here, it was @McDonalds_SG that lost the battle on Twittersphere. As Wendy’s once sassed to a rando…
