Asian Games: Joseph Schooling wins 50m butterfly in 23.61s, second gold
Singapore swimmer Joseph Schooling won his second gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games on Thursday (23 August) after he finished the men’s 50m butterfly final in 23.61s in Jakarta.
China’s Wang Peng came in second with a time of 23.65s while Kazakhstan’s Adilbek Mussin took bronze in 23.71s.
Schooling’s fourth medal at the Games came after the 23-year-old recorded the fastest qualifying time of 23.84 secs in the morning’s heats.
On Wednesday, Schooling defended his 100m butterfly title and won Singapore’s first gold medal at the Games. He swam 51.04s to beat the Games record.
He also clinched bronze as part of Singapore’s 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relay teams.
The swimmer will compete in the men’s 4x100m medley relay final on Friday.
